This Halifax couple certainly wasn’t afraid of a little creativity and colour. These graphic designers wanted a bright and cheery space for their home office, combined with an entertainment area, and a library for their collections. We mixed their fun personalities with the old character of the home to create a truly eclectic space.
Starting with a clean slate, we created the perfect kitchen (seen here) and an open living space. The crew worked hard to get lines level and match the old with new in this home, but their effort certainly paid off in the end.
We removed the dated fireplace surround to expose the original brick. For maximum impact, we painted it black but kept the mantle simple and white. The 1 inch version of the kitchen’s 18 inch hexagon tiles were carried through to the hearth.
A bright spring-green coat of paint gave the new library a much needed face-lift. The natural light in this space makes you want to curl up with a book and never leave! New frosted sliding-track doors keep work and life spaces separate when company arrives.
