There are some features of a kitchen that are made to stand the test of time. However, just because these features can be described as timeless it does not mean that they do not have a place in a modern kitchen. The following timeless kitchen trends are sure to be huge in 2017.
- Layout
It looks as if open plan layouts will continue to be the way forward as we head into 2017. People tend to prefer cooking in an area where they have more space and dining at home has become more informal over the years. An open plan kitchen helps people to feel connected as they can chat to their family who are already at the table while they are still making dinner.
- Counter tops
A great deal of cleaning time can be saved by opting for a quartz covering rather than granite. These counter tops are far easier to keep clean and they also require less maintenance when compared to granite. Quartz counter tops are also much easier to install.
- Lighting
LED lighting is one of the most energy efficient types of lighting that you can use in your home and the bulbs will also last longer than halogen or fluorescent lighting. It can also be used in a number of different ways that look really effective in the kitchen. They can be used underneath cabinets to light up the work space or they can be placed around an island to make it more of a feature.
- Appliances
If you are worried about your appliances looking out of place in your kitchen, then integrated appliances may be just what you are looking for. These appliances will be hidden behind doors that look just like the rest of your cabinets. These are ideal for appliances that may only be used once a day or less often such as dishwashers and washing machines.
You may like to incorporate some of these ideas into your kitchen but do not have the budget for a complete renovation. Don’t panic as there are still some simple changes that you can make that will keep your kitchen on trend and looking its best.
If you are competent at woodworking then you may be able to make your own kitchen cabinets which can be considerably cheaper than purchasing new ones. Another option would be to buy new doors for your cabinets which can update the whole look of your kitchen. You may choose to remove the doors altogether and if this is the action that you take then you may consider getting storage baskets to place on the shelving inside the cabinets that remain. Open shelving may also be an idea if you choose to get rid of your cabinets altogether.
