This kitchen remodel presented some unique challenges – how could the homeowners get more storage, without increasing the size of their quaint galley kitchen? Our design team accepted the challenge, put on their creative thinking-caps, and got to work!
Because the space was narrow, we kept things bright and simple. The large, neutral-grey floor tiles run the length of the kitchen to help make the space feel larger. Sleek white cabinets and bar pull handles keep the visual clutter to a minimum and streamline the space. A sense of balance was given to the space by mixing stainless steel and dark quartz counters, with a fun teal subway tile back splash. This cheery pop of colour keeps the space from feeling too stark and industrial.
By leaving a section of the cupboards with glass fronts, it created a modern china cabinet for the homeowners to display their special pieces. This also softens the solid white lines and adds an eclectic and nostalgic touch. Across from the new large storage pantry we added a small breakfast bar under the window. The homeowners were definitely excited to see the new space and couldn’t wait to get cooking!
